The Youth Lodge Executive Committee (LEC) is the backbone of the lodge, driven by youth leadership. It is responsible for guiding and managing all aspects of the lodge's operations, ensuring that it fulfills its mission of serving the Scouting community and its members. The Youth LEC focuses on fostering leadership, planning impactful events, and upholding the traditions and values of the Order of the Arrow. Here's what they do:
Plan and Execute Events: The Youth LEC oversees the organization of lodge activities, including service projects, fellowship weekends, camping programs, and ceremonies. They ensure these events are meaningful, engaging, and beneficial to participants.
Promotes Leadership Development: The Youth LEC serves as a platform for young leaders to develop essential skills like teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. By taking on real responsibilities, youth members gain experience that benefits them both within and beyond Scouting.
Represent Lodge Members: The committee acts as a voice for lodge members, ensuring that their needs and perspectives are considered in decision-making processes. They aim to create a vibrant, inclusive environment that reflects the values of the Order of the Arrow.
Strengthen the Lodge's Mission: The Youth LEC upholds the core principles of the OA, including brotherhood, cheerfulness, and service. They inspire others to live by these values and contribute to the betterment of Scouting and their communities.
The Youth LEC operates under the guidance of adult advisers but takes the lead in setting priorities, making plans, and driving the lodge forward. Their dedication and efforts make the lodge a dynamic and impactful organization for all its members.
If you are looking to join the LEC, contact the Lodge Chief after they have been elected. (Elections in May)
