Q: Once elected and tapped out, am I member?
A: No. All those who are elected must first successfully participate in the Ordeal experience.
Q: What is the Ordeal?
A: The Ordeal is a protected rite that you must complete to gain status as a member. It involves a weekend at Lost Pines Scout Reservation. It is sanctioned by National BSA and if any legitimately interested adult has questions regarding the processes of the Ordeal, their questions will be answered fully.
Q: Where can I take this Ordeal?
A: The Ordeal is administrated by the Lodge at one of our two Ordeal Weekends per year, one in the Spring and one in the Fall. It occurs at Lost Pines Scout Reservation, the location of Summer camp.
Q: When are the Ordeal/Assembly Weekends?
A: The Spring Weekend is usually in early May and the Fall Weekend is usually in early October. The dates are listed in the Calendar section of the Website.
Q: Is there a fee for the Ordeal?
A: Yes. The current fee is $35.00 to take your Ordeal Weekend The fee includes all your food, accommodations, OA sash, handbook, flap, your first year dues, and other materials.
Q: How long do I have after the election to take my ordeal?
A: You have one year from the date of your election to take your Ordeal. This gives you two Ordeal Weekends to choose from, though we recommend that you go at the first possible chance.
Q: Do adult nominees have to take the Ordeal also?
A: Yes. Adults have to participate in the same ordeal as the youth in order to become members.
Q: Do adults have the same one-year eligibility?
A: Yes. Adults have one year from the date of their letter or approval from the Lodge Adviser.
